Dear fellow jet skiers and power boat owners, you may not be aware, but government is looking at making some major changes as to how we may use our local water ways. Please register your comment ASAP to ensure that we can keep using the local rivers and boat ramp facilities.

Sustainable Development Facilitation wishes to remind you that the DRAFT Sharing the Rivers, Swan Canning Riverpark, Aquatic Use Review and Management Framework is now available for public comment – closing 29th February 2012.    

A brief article is attached and we invite members of clubs and groups to place this in newsletters / on notices etc. to inform members and help increase awareness of the process 

There are several ways to have input to a submission:·         
  • Make individual submissions;·         
  • Make formal organisational submissions from a Club;·         
  • Get together with informal small groups and send a combined submission. 
All written comments and suggestions received by 29 February 2012 will be given serious consideration based on their merits in line with the objectives of the Sharing the Rivers framework.

  CONSIDERING A 'GREY' OR 'PARALLEL IMPORT' JET SKI OR BOAT?  IF SO, PLEASE READ ON...  
   
It's no secret that there are plenty of 'grey market' or 'parallel import' jet skis and boats readily available on the Australian market. Our strong Australian dollar has opened the door to many imported vessels, however it is important that potential purchasers understand just what the implications might be before making a potentially costly mistake.

The Boating Industry of Australia recently released a brochure outlining some of the known pitfalls associated with these grey or parellel imports, and is definitely worth a read.   <-Click here for to dowload brochure->

Ultimately with the current reduced pricing from Yamaha on WaveRunners, the $1,000 variation between a grey ski and one supplied by an authorized Yamaha Australia dealership, clearly isn't worth the risk.  Don't forget you now get a 3 year manufactures warranty on any new Yamaha purchased though an authorized Yamaha dealer, so please don't be fooled by non-authorized dealers trying to tempt you with an 'extended 2 year manufacturers warranty', which is clearly not possible, no matter what they might claim.

Before making a purchase, we advise you verify the following:
  1. Does my new ski come with a 3 year Australia Wide Manufacturers Warranty, or a limited after-market warranty?
  2. What Trailer does my ski come with?  Is it locally made or imported?  Can I get parts?
  3. Has by ski been assembled and checked by a qualified Yamaha Technician?
  4. Will my new ski be DataDotted with Yamaha DNA? 
  5. Will I qualify for extra benefits when I come to insure my ski? (ie. Zero Theft Excess and 3 Years New-For-Old Replacement with Yamaha Marine Insurance)
  6. Does my ski come with two (2) remote transmiters?
  7. Will I be notified by Yamaha Motor Australia of any important saftey recalls or notices that might apply to my WaveRunner?
